Thoughts That Find No Echo

It was never Ye Xintong who drove Xu Shangsi and Chen Jiayu apart… Xu Shangsi was a very brave person. She could face her own death head-on. But she was also a coward, unable to accept the people who loved her leaving. “I face the gray sky, feeling my way through faded memories. A torrential rain took away the last of the warmth. It’s August again, this year’s August, an August spent alone.” “Chen Jiayu, I miss you so much. Too bad you don’t care to know.” “Si, I know you’re crying. I lied to you. I’m sorry.” “I heard boys like receiving flowers too. I always wanted to give you a bouquet, but you left before I got the chance.” That was the August Xu Shangsi would never forget: the August when love overflowed, was carved into the clouds, and declared to the world that they would be together forever. It was the August when not even the end of the world could undo their love. A sudden betrayal made her leave the city. Chen Jiayu had forgotten what love looked like at the beginning and blamed Xu Shangsi for everything. Xu Shangsi had once been happy, once been loved. But this relationship destroyed her entire youth. How fortunate that it had been her sweetest first love. How heartbreaking that it had ended in such pain. Chen Jiayu, so ordinary in every way, had once made Xu Shangsi’s whole youth shine. Perhaps it was love, or perhaps it was greed, that drove away the Chen Jiayu who had loved her most. The August wind cannot reach the spring of another year. When they first met feels like yesterday; when they parted, she can hardly recall. They knew each other so briefly, yet those few hurried months would take a lifetime to remember.
