Guangdong is a maritime province in southern China. It is backed by five ridges and faces the sea to the east, south and west. It has a dense network of rivers, making transportation very convenient whether it leads to outside the province or overseas, or to all parts of the province. Guangdong has a coastline of 5,782 kilometers, including 3,368 kilometers of mainland coastline and 2,414 kilometers of island coastline, accounting for one-sixth of the country's total mainland coastline, ranking first in the country.
