"The Monsoon-Blowed Land: The Fragmentation and Rebirth of Modern Southeast Asia" is a reflection and analysis on the modernization process of Southeast Asia and the problems it faces. The author Michael Vatijotis is both a researcher of Southeast Asian society and history and an experienced bystander. He studied at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London and received his PhD from Oxford University.
