This book is the representative work of Wendelband, the founder of the Freiburg School of Neo-Kantism. It cooperates with the well-known "Tournament on the History of Philosophy" to form the basic program of Neo-Kantian philosophy and is also a good guide for beginners in philosophy. The whole book is based on the distinction between existential (theoretical) issues and value issues, based on the relationship between the existence of value and the value of existence, and explores various philosophical issues such as ontology, genesis, epistemology, ethics, aesthetics, religion, etc. The author focuses on the inherent power contained in major philosophical themes, starting from simple assumptions in daily life and science, and starting from the evolution of the history of philosophy, trying to explain the various trends and differences in dealing with these issues, and presents the basic issues in life concisely, aiming to call readers to think about the major issues in life.
