Fate Is Full of Surprises

The first time we met, I offended him. I was only six back then, still a little girl. I saw him leaning over beside the bushes, his little bottom sticking up, round and cute. My little foot got itchy, and with one kick, I sent the nine-year-old tumbling over. Where did he tumble? Into the swimming pool. If I'd known back then that he would be my husband, I wouldn't have kicked him for anything in the world. When they fished him out, he looked like a tree uprooted and thrown down. He lay on the lawn, his handsome brows furrowed into a deep crease, his long, narrow eyes bloodshot. When he woke up, he looked around. “Who kicked me?” Looking at how handsome he was, I spoke without thinking. No, that didn't fit my character. On the principle that children shouldn't lie, I hurried over and used my silver tongue to explain to everyone, “I saw a dog trying to bite him, so I wanted to push him out of the way.” My best friend Qiu Yang was the most reliable. He jumped out to back me up. “I saw it. There was no dog. She kicked him.” Then I got angry and attacked him, claws out. “Take this, Nine Yin White Bone Claw!” Qiu Yang struck a pose and shouted back, “Take this, Overwhelming Waves!” We started battling with our peerless martial arts, until my responsible father grabbed one of us in each hand and easily broke up our so-called legendary techniques. For some inexplicable reason, I asked my father, “Who are you? How could you beat me?” My father's nose nearly twisted with anger. “Who am I? Your dad!”
