Xiao Wu’s Three Years of Middle School

Amid the hubbub, it was Xiao Wu’s turn. She passed her admission notice through the window. Just then, a student beside her slammed into her, making her stumble and bang her hand against the window with a clang. Grimacing in pain, Xiao Wu turned to look at the culprit. A dark-skinned boy with hair sticking straight up was grinning at her. A few other boys were shoving one another, and Xiao Wu got bumped again. She glared at him, but she was in a hurry to register and didn’t bother responding. The teacher inside looked at Xiao Wu’s admission notice and smiled. “Who picked your name? It’s quite unusual.” “My mom did.” “It’s a good one.” The teacher entered her name and told Xiao Wu she could go.
