A very touched patriot
Before reading this book, when I mentioned Zhang Xueliang, the only impressions I had of him were Xi'an Incident, Romantic Son, and Northeastern Marshal. But after reading this book, a vivid Zhang Xueliang seemed to be standing in front of me, and those labels were slowly removed one by one. Against the background of a large number of historical documents and oral histories, Zhang Xueliang's life played in my mind like a movie. The strange yet familiar little Liuzi jumped towards me from between the white mountains and black waters.
Zhang Xueliang, one of the four princes of the Republic of China and the suave "Young Marshal", had ups and downs in his life. No matter how twists and turns he could not escape the torrent of history, the author combines the tide of the times with Zhang Xueliang's character experience, showing his ups and downs personal experience in the changes of the great era, and also vividly and meticulously describes the causes and consequences of the development of the Fengxian. The author uses a large number of detailed descriptions to make this book extremely readable and interesting. It has extremely high historical value and enlightenment significance for in-depth understanding and entry into that turbulent era.
On National Day this year, I took my children to the former residence of Xueliang in Shenyang and experienced the grudges of the young marshal 100 years ago. Zhang Xueliang was a very controversial person, but he made great contributions to New China. The author wrote it very well, and Tomato is also great.
Zhang Xueliang, the eldest son of Zhang Zuolin, the leader of the Fengcian warlord, was a famous patriotic general in modern China. In the face of the growing call for anti-Japanese resistance from the people across the country, under the influence of the Chinese Communist Party's anti-Japanese national united front policy, Zhang Xueliang and Yang Hucheng repeatedly persuaded Chiang Kai-shek to put the country's national interests first and accommodate anti-Japanese ideas, but were reprimanded by Chiang Kai-shek. Zhang Xueliang and Yang Hucheng are determined to take extraordinary measures and implement "military remonstrance"! Use force to detain Chiang Kai-shek and force him to resist Japan. Zhang Xueliang made great contributions to the victory of the Anti-Japanese War.
In order to encourage the three northeastern provinces to surrender to the central government as soon as possible, Chiang Kai-shek stepped up secret contacts with General Zhang Xueliang. On July 6, 1928, Chiang Kai-shek put on the posture of a "revolutionary" and announced in front of the Zhongshan Soul in Biyun Temple in Beiping: The Northern Expedition was successful. Afterwards, representative Liu Guang was sent to Fengtian to secretly contact Zhang Xueliang to change the flag of the Kuomintang. Zhang Xueliang expressed his obedience to public opinion and favored unification. On the 10th, Hu Ruoyu, Xing Shilian, and Wang Shuhan, whom he appointed, went to the Xiangshan Liuguo Hotel in Peking to meet with Chiang Kai-shek to discuss the terms of peace between the north and the south.
Before I read this book, when I mentioned Zhang Xueliang, I could only think of "labels" such as the Northeastern Marshal, the protagonist of the Xi'an Incident, and a romantic figure. And this book tears off all the "labels" that predecessors put on Zhang Xueliang, and returns the true face of history, the real Zhang Xueliang. In the interplay of a large number of documents, archives and oral historical materials, the century-old young marshal's life slowly unfolds like a picture scroll: a tiger-headed little boy with clear eyes but full of evil ideas is jumping from the charming white mountains and black waters...
In the course of time, Zhang Xueliang has explained to us what a true hero is with his unparalleled elegance. His story is an eternal hymn, telling the splendor and glory of that era.
