On the day of her wedding, Shen Xiaoye's entire family is slaughtered in a quarrel. Lying in a pool of blood, she watches her closest friend and the man she loves entwined together. Filled with resentment and regret, she slowly closes her eyes. She cannot accept being used like this, regrets being blind enough to marry the wrong man, and most of all, hates herself for ruining her entire family for love.
If she could live again, she would make everyone who bullied and humiliated her pay for their crimes, and make them wish they were dead.
Shen Xiaoye, the youngest Golden Horse Best Actress of the 21st century, died while saving someone. But fate had other plans: she was reborn in the body of Shen Xiaoye, the legitimate daughter of the general's household in the Great Qian dynasty.
Inheriting the memories of her predecessor's past life, Shen Xiaoye is overwhelmed.
“Revenge? That sounds like a real pain. I might just torment them until they regret ever being born, then play them to death.”
Shen Xiaoye gives a wicked smile, raises her pinky, picks up her tea, and takes a delicate sip. Mischief glints in her eyes. Let the fun begin.
But before she gets revenge, she needs to find a powerful patron to back her up.
And so,
Shen Xiaoye sets her sights on the Evil Prince, Sikong Ming, who was poisoned into becoming an idiot but still wields enough power to make even the emperor fear him. (Mostly because he's incredibly handsome.)
“Your Highness, how about you marry me?”
“Fine.”
However,
Sikong Ming thinks he has married a dull pawn, and plans to kill her on their wedding night. He never expects his meek, obedient little lamb to suddenly turn into a wolf, devour him, and keep insisting that she'll protect him.
From then on, Sikong Ming finds it endlessly amusing to watch his gentle little wife change faces at a moment's notice, and his icy heart gradually melts.
“My lord, the princess consort is just using you, using your power to get what she wants.”
“Isn't that great? I'm the powerful patron she's clinging to. That way, she'll never leave me.”
It would be nice to have some extra stories
It ended so quickly. I didn't see enough.
The ending was unexpected, but the subject matter was quite novel.
