"Memoirs of the First World War 1: World Crisis (1911-1914)" mainly describes the historical facts of Europe from 1911 to 1914. When analyzing the real causes of World War I, Churchill revealed the historical origins of the conflict of interests and the intricate international relations between major capitalist countries since 1870, outlined the situation of arms expansion and war preparations as World War I approached, and introduced the frequent diplomatic activities of the two major groups. Churchill called the period from August to December 1914 after the outbreak of World War I the first stage of the war. It describes the situation when Germany raided neutral Belgium and invaded France after the war began, and then Britain crossed the sea to support France. At this stage, France and Britain jointly launched the massive Marne River and other battles, resulting in hundreds of thousands of casualties, a waste of lives and nothing gained. In addition, this book also describes the initial stages of the naval battle between Britain and Germany, and the German navy's shelling and continuous harassment of British coastal cities.
