Writer Ben Mears returns to Jerusalem's Lot, the hometown he left many years ago. The town has fallen into decline. It's full of old people and poor people, and the young leave as soon as they graduate from high school, never to return. More than a year ago, strange things began happening: residents started mysteriously “disappearing,” and rumors spread through the nearby towns, giving the place a bad reputation as a “haunted town.”
Ben Mears discovers that the gloomy Marsten House still stands on the cliff, overlooking the town. Nightmares from his childhood keep resurfacing, and the fear long suppressed in his heart grows without limit... When a mysterious tenant moves into Marsten House, the town is gripped by an inexplicable unease: the Glick brothers vanish one after another, and old man Wen's hound dies...
Disappearances and deaths keep visiting Jerusalem's Lot, while something evil stirs in the air.
A pretty good horror novel.
It's just that for people who have watched too many horror movies, it doesn't have such strong sensory stimulation.
You can spend a few hours leisurely with this book, immersed in the old-fashioned story of light and darkness.
An ancient town shop, a foreign novelist, and a cunning vampire.
You will be full of expectations after reading the first half, but you will still be slightly disappointed when the traditional vampire appears. A more terrifying and powerful evil monster never appeared.
I admire the hero's courage and persistence for the truth. This reminds me of Andy in "The Shawshank Redemption", who is equally determined to pursue freedom. And Stephen King's writing is very graphic, like watching a thriller movie. I can't wait to see how the story ends!
