The Mud Buddha

There are many clay Buddha statues worshipped throughout the world, but how much do you know about the taboos surrounding them? Since ancient times, those in the yin trade have passed down this rule: “A golden Buddha cannot be tempered in a kiln, a wooden Buddha cannot be tempered by fire, and a clay Buddha cannot be tempered by water.” Of these three kinds of Buddhas, the clay Buddha is the fastest to work, the most powerful, and the most efficacious. Clay gives birth to all things and can contain everything.
