Playing the Emperor's Favorite Consort in a Palace Intrigue Game

[Historical romance writing contest] He Liyue unexpectedly found herself inside a palace intrigue game, inhabiting the body of an arrogant, domineering cannon-fodder favorite consort. She had planned to clear the game safely, but accidentally caught the attention of a terrifying man who began to covet her and wouldn't leave her alone.

Scene 1: Everyone at the banquet was ready to hear her play a tune on the pipa, but He Liyue wanted no part of it. She knew nothing about music. How was she supposed to play?

With no other choice, she could only ask the System for help in her mind.

He Liyue: …

Scene 2: In the dimly lit hall, He Xiuming forcefully cornered her, his eyes burning with passionate affection.

She shoved him away with all her strength. “Surely the Chancellor understands that from beginning to end, you and I have had nothing but a business arrangement.”

He Xiuming said nothing, only turned and left, his expression dark.

Later...

The palace gates fell, and flames rose everywhere.

The man wore white and held an exquisite, ornate phoenix wedding gown. He smiled, his lips curling upward. Though he seemed so gentle, he still made her panic.

“Your Highness, now that you're marrying me, you'll finally get your wish.”
