An Unconventional Palace Intrigue

By the time Situ Yi was brought into the palace, she had already made up her mind. Being a palace maid was better than starving to death. She never wanted to go back to a life where she couldn’t count on having food tomorrow.

As it turned out, not only did she get enough to eat, she ate very well and dressed very well. She became the emperor’s consort, and the one he favored most.

Life is full of unexpected turns, but no one knows that all Situ Yi ever wanted at first was to be a palace maid.

Please note: this is not a serious palace-intrigue novel. It has no elaborate schemes or other complicated plotlines. The setting is a fictional dynasty. The heroine is neither a Mary Sue nor a saint, and the story has a touch of mystery. All the rules are made up to serve the plot, so please don’t associate them with any real dynasty or historical figure!
