"Recipes for Acne in Children", a monograph on acne, not divided into volumes. Written by Chen Wenzhong (Wenxiu) of the Southern Song Dynasty, the year of writing is unknown. In ancient times, the diagnosis of acne in children was chaotic, and there were not many monographs. Except for Dong Ji's "Emergency Prescriptions for Children with Acne", this book should be the earliest. At the beginning of the book, it is stated that the source of acne is the poison of the internal organs, or the foul fluid of the skin and tendons turns into blisters. Secondly, the treatment methods and prescriptions for acne rash are discussed, and syndromes are distinguished according to the eight principles of yin and yang, exterior and interior, cold and heat, and deficiency and excess. It means that the person with both external and internal symptoms has a strong and hot body, yellow and thick stools, the sores will be glossy, the hair is plump, and the sores are easy to appear and become prone to swelling. In cases of both external and internal deficiency, the sores are not shiny, do not emit hair, are not red and live, or may be accompanied by abdominal distension, diarrhea, thirst, shortness of breath and difficulty in dimples. The treatment methods for acne include Tuoli, Shutong and Rongwei, together with proven prescriptions. Xue Ji in the Ming Dynasty edited and annotated this book.
Reader comments
If I had read this book earlier, I would have known how to deal with it. The book mentions foods that both children and mothers should avoid, as well as an analysis of the symptoms of acne at different stages, which is really detailed. It feels like an experienced doctor is guiding you, which makes you feel at ease. I would recommend it to other families with children, this book is truly a must-have for families!
