The name of this book comes from the story of "Seven Golden Lotuses" created by Wang Chongyang. It is said that in the fourth year of Jin Zhenglong (1159), Wang Chongyang met two immortals in Ganhe Town and pointed out that "seven golden lotuses are bearing seeds" in the east. Later, Wang Chongyang went east to the seaside (Shandong) to preach and recruit disciples. He "wandered around for several years, receiving inducements and training, and acquired Qiu, Liu, Tan, Ma, Hao, Sun, and Wang, enough to satisfy the number of seven golden lotuses."
