The Little Embroideress of the Countryside

Her mother-in-law dislikes her, the maid frames her, and her cousin by marriage is vicious. What is she to do? Husband and wife join forces to take on the wicked and send them packing! After Su Jiao takes medicine for her illness, she complains, “This medicine is so bitter. I want something sweet to get rid of the taste.” Her handsome husband kisses her. “Then let me sweeten your mouth for you.” Su Jiao resists. “Husband... I’m sick. I don’t want you to catch it too.” But he doesn’t care in the least. “My dear, as husband and wife, we share both fortune and misfortune. You take my good fortune, and I’ll take your troubles. We’ll stay together, inseparable.” This is the story of a timid farm girl who grows into a renowned heir to the Shu embroidery tradition, along with a sweet, loving everyday life between two devoted spouses.
