When they first met, he helped her out of a tight spot, but she misunderstood him and beat him up. He silently vowed, “I was wrong. I'll never stick up for that brat again.”
When he confessed his feelings, he couldn't help asking, “Don't you think the Crown Prince treats you very well?”
She thought about it, then gave a thoughtful “Mm.” Under his eager gaze, she added, “It's not bad.” He was speechless and wanted to say, “I was wrong. I shouldn't have asked you that.”
After he ascended the throne, she stormed over with the imperial edict he'd just issued and challenged him. “You actually called me brilliant and clever? Which part of me is cold?”
He could only sigh. “I was wrong. I should have known your intelligence would keep you from understanding what that phrase means.”
It's okay, but I just didn't understand it.
