The mysterious organization known as Heaven, Earth, Humanity, and Harmony has a history spanning a thousand years. Its predecessor was the Heaven, Earth, and Humanity Sect, founded by Laozi during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods. By the Tang dynasty, it had reached its height. The organization has four branches: the Heaven Branch focuses on discerning the principles of the cosmos through astrology and divination; the Earth Branch explores ancient and mysterious landscapes and investigates supernatural folk phenomena; the Humanity Branch seeks out extraordinary people with untapped potential; and the Harmony Branch is exceptionally secretive, with few records remaining. After a genetic mutation, the protagonist Ning Ruobai encounters descendants of the Wu family from the Humanity Branch during an expedition. He meets a con artist known as the Great Master, as well as Zhong Xiaoyin of the mysterious Xuanye Clan, a Humanity Branch member embedded in the Religious Affairs Investigation Bureau. The organization’s greatest treasure, the Later Scroll of the Luo Shu, records ten hiding places for dragon bones, collectively known as the Ten Paths to the Summit. Legend has it that they hold the origin of energy. The Ten Paths include the Carved Tower Among Chun Trees, the Ancient Whale Black Hole, the Mirror Maze, the Buddhist Grotto Beyond the Borders, Lu Ban’s Ink and Siege, the Floating City in the Clouds, the Snowfield Wolf Den, and more. Each expedition brims with danger and conspiracy.

The details are not handled very well. It should be the author's debut novel. I read it a few years ago and now I am reading it for the second time.
