The Fragrance of Healing Herbs

Chai Sujin had once been the envy of all women: the most beloved princess, with a peerlessly handsome prince consort. Then, in a single night, she died for no apparent reason. She fell from the heights of glory and became an ugly woman whose family was ruined and whose engagement had been called off. She had already learned to accept the past, but was forced into a struggle for imperial power once again. Deceit, betrayal, old grudges and new grievances: when would the cycle of vengeance ever end? She was no longer the woman who relied on her beauty to win favor, dazzling on the surface. Nor did she want a man who loved only the empire and used her true feelings for his own ends. In this life, she would travel the world and put all her knowledge to use relieving the people's suffering. She wanted only to leave the fragrance of medicine behind, not pursue fame or fortune! Later generations would preserve tales of her legend: With my own hands, I summon an ancient lingzhi and heal the sick throughout the land. Amid the faint fragrance of medicine, I save lives and become the peerless Saint of Medicine.
