Just as I Plot to Control the Emperor and Command the Lords, Cao Cao Invites Me to Fight Dong Zhuo

After transmigrating to the late Han Dynasty, Li Yan became the youngest son of the governor of Xihe Commandery in Bingzhou. He proceeded steadily and focused on building his strength. In five years, he struck west against the Xiongnu and launched northern campaigns against the Xianbei, earning countless military honors. Emperor Ling appointed him General of Chariots and Cavalry and Marquis of Anxi, entrusting him with military affairs in three commanderies and the defense of the frontier.

The following year, Emperor Ling died and the young Emperor of Han took the throne. Dong Zhuo then entered the capital, deposed the emperor, and seized power, shocking the realm.

With the era of heroes at the end of the Han Dynasty now upon him, Li Yan chose to bring back Liu Bian, who was about to be killed, intending to control the emperor and command the lords.

Not long afterward, Cao Cao issued a proclamation calling for a campaign against the traitor and invited Li Yan to lead his troops south to join in killing Dong Zhuo. Thus, the eighteen warlord armies became nineteen, and the Three Kingdoms' tripartite stand-off became a united campaign against Li Yan.

Cao Cao: "I should have known better. Li Yan is even more Dong Zhuo than Dong Zhuo."

Sun Quan: "Xiangxiang, to protect our family's legacy in Jiangdong, your big brother has no choice but to ask you to make this sacrifice."

Liu Bei: "Li Yan and I cannot both stand beneath the same sky. The royal cause cannot be confined to a corner. Li Yan is the greatest traitor to the Han!"
