The Heavenly Path of the Profound Dao

Immortal energy drifted through the air, and clouds and mist swirled as the disciples gazed up at the figure seated on the high platform above them.

"Dao Venerable, how far should we go in our pursuit of the Dao?"

"The Great Dao is fifty, the Heavenly Principle derives forty-nine, and one escapes. Immortals take the forty-nine, following the natural order; demons take the escaped one, going against it. Yet the profound and mysterious is the gateway to all wonders. We who attain the Profound Dao shall claim all fifty. I would soar above the heavens. What have the heavens to do with me?"
