The Boundaries of the Mind

He was once a bright young boy, an outstanding student from elementary school through junior high, always among the best in his class.

Though his parents worked hard at exhausting jobs, seeing how promising he was made the labor feel less tiring.

He earned excellent grades and got into a prestigious university: Peking University.

He was the pride of their entire village.

But his books piled up like mountains. He went through the graduate school entrance exam, earned his master's degree, and then pursued a doctorate. Yet in the end, for reasons even he couldn't understand, he returned home to repeat his studies.

Now he is in his thirties. He stays up late studying and rests during the day.

Seeing him like this, his parents tell him to go out and find some work.

He refuses, insisting: "My studies promise me a boundless future. What's the point of earning money?"

His selfishness has consumed him. He has no idea how much his parents sacrificed to put him through school.

In the end, he enrages his father and the rest of his family.

What will become of him?
