Journey to the West: Let the Tathagata Go Fetch the Scriptures!

After the great battle, Spirit Mountain had been leveled to the ground.

Buddha Tathagata lay on the ground, barely alive, with the monkey's iron staff poised above his head. The monkey asked, "What should we do with Tathagata?"

The monk glanced at the Jade Emperor nearby, who had been beaten black and blue by the pig-headed brute and was about to be thrown into the animal realm. He pulled a cigarette from his kasaya and lit it.

"Make Tathagata go fetch the scriptures!"
