Five hundred years ago, the Buddha took over as supreme ruler of the Buddhist Realm from Dipankara Buddha. With his own hands, he cast Shakyamuni Jinnaluo into the Abyss of Darkness. Five hundred years later, Jinnaluo sent a black lotus of his primordial spirit out of the Abyss of Darkness. It attached itself to a newborn baby in the mortal realm, just as Kongque, daughter of the Phoenix, swallowed it. Along with the lotus, she swallowed the baby and the entire population of a city. The black lotus took root inside her, and Kongque had no choice but to ask the Buddha to enter her belly and remove it. But the Buddha was angered by her slaughter of living beings and tried to suppress and kill her. After she begged for mercy, he eventually brought her into the Buddhist Realm. The baby was saved thanks to the Buddha, but since it had only just been born, Jin Chanzi carried it down to the mortal realm and entrusted it to a devout believer to raise. Yet because the child had formed a karmic bond with that demon, it was ultimately unable to live an ordinary mortal life. After growing up, it still embarked on the path of cultivation. By then, the Buddha had only recently taken charge of the Buddhist Realm, but had already begun plotting the journey to the West, seeking to wrest control of the mortal realm from the Immortal Realm. A war between immortals and Buddhas was on the verge of breaking out. How would the child's growth intertwine with the journey to the West, and what sparks would fly? Read on to find out.
