Journey to the West: The Clash of Immortals and Buddhas

Buddha Randeng ordered Shijia Jinnaluo exiled to the Abyss of Darkness, and Tathagata was charged with carrying out the order. Five hundred years later, Molu sent a black lotus containing his primordial spirit out of the Abyss of Darkness. It became attached to an infant, but was unexpectedly swallowed by Kongque, daughter of the Phoenix. Molu's black lotus took root in Kongque's internal organs to recuperate. Terrified and unable to deal with it herself, Kongque went alone to the Buddhist realm to beg Tathagata Buddha to save her. But Tathagata Buddha was angered by her slaughter of living beings and sought to subdue and execute her as well. With no other choice, Kongque used the still-living infant as leverage, forcing the Buddha to spare her life. She converted to Buddhism, and Tathagata named her Mahamayuri Bodhisattva. After Tathagata Buddha rescued the baby boy, he ordered Jin Chanzi to take him down to the mortal world and raise him in an ordinary household. They thought the matter was settled, but the boy and Molu had been bound together from birth, forging a karmic connection. How could he live out his life like an ordinary mortal? In time, incredible events unfolded around him. Meanwhile, Tathagata Buddha, a mighty leader of his age, began the Journey to the West plan to expand the Buddhist realm and stand against the Immortal Realm.
