Do you believe there's meaning in waiting? Do you believe you can end up marrying your first love?

Gu Jiu'an does. But she's now 27 and has been single since birth. She's paid wedding gifts for everyone around her, and still her "one" hasn't arrived.

"That can't be right," her best friend says in disbelief. "You've been the girl half the boys in your class had a crush on since middle school. Even if the Matchmaker gave you a steel rod, it should've been ground down to a needle by now, shouldn't it?"

Gu Jiu'an angrily eats a bag of her coworker's wedding candy, then a second... The next day, a toothache she hasn't had in ages strikes. Holding one side of her face, she goes to the dental hospital. After leaving, she messages her best friend: "Looks like the Matchmaker's steel rod has finally arrived."

A dentist who can tell Tianjin-style comic routines but speaks standard Mandarin x a variety-show producer who's never even held a boy's hand in her life
