Auntie's City

Xinyang City fell, and the concubine died. Emperor Wen was deeply troubled, so he decided to give her a lavish burial. They searched the entire city and killed all twenty thousand prisoners, but still couldn't find the concubine's head. So Emperor Wen had a golden skull made, bestowed a vast trove of burial goods, and gave rise to the legend of the "Golden Head, Jade Burial."

To prevent anyone from robbing the tomb, Emperor Wen had people stage a deception. He also had eight coffins carried out through the four gates of Xinyang City and built eight tombs around the city. He assigned two hundred tomb guardians to each pair of tombs. The descendants of these guardians settled there and built villages, which later became Yugu Dui Village, Huanggu Dui Village, Hegu Dui Village, and Wanggu Dui Village: the "Four Gates and Eight Ancient Mounds."
