After Graduation: Helping My Hometown Escape Poverty and Build Prosperity

"Jiang Chen, as a student of Northern University, your classmates have either gone abroad for further study or landed jobs at Fortune 500 companies after graduation. Why have you chosen to return to your hometown in the mountains?"

"Don't you think you're letting down the country after all the years it spent educating you?"

During Northern University's graduation ceremony livestream, the host picked Jiang Chen for a random interview.

Jiang Chen glanced at the skeptical host and said, "I grew up eating meals provided by the villagers. I was able to study at Northern University because everyone in my village pooled their money to support me. Without them, I wouldn't be where I am today. I can't forget where I came from."

"You shouldn't forget where you came from, but what you're doing is completely letting down your country."

"So what? As students, if we want to repay our country, we should first repay those close to us. The day my fellow villagers escape poverty and prosper will be the day I give my life to serve my country."

"How long will that take?"

"Three years. Give me three years, and I'll help my fellow villagers escape poverty and prosper. Then I'll devote myself to my country."
