Our Seventeenth Year

The rain would stop, and the skies would clear. That year, the rainy season arrived unusually early in A City, and the children were already past the halfway point of their seventeenth year.

Looking back carefully, it suddenly seemed that their seventeenth year was just like the rainy season: struggling beneath the downpour, then stumbling along beneath it as they grew up. They had been through so much that, for a time, it felt as if they were gradually losing who they once were in this noisy world. Each was the protagonist of their own life, selfish one moment and passionate the next. Faced with the sincere emotions unique to youth, their adolescence became all the more winding and beautiful.
