Great Tang: Wu Zhao Wouldn't Let Me Go from the Start

Shen Youzhao transmigrates to Chang'an during the Zhenguan era. Looking around at his bare, impoverished home, he feels so miserable that he buys two liang of rice wine on credit to drown his sorrows.

But that night, his predecessor's first love shows up. In his drunken stupor, he somehow makes a mistake.

Two months later.

A young woman calling herself Wu Zhao arrives, beaming with excitement. "Shen Lang, I'm pregnant. Come to my home and ask for my hand!"

From then on, Shen Youzhao embarks on the long, seemingly endless journey of supporting his family.

But before long, he starts to feel that something is wrong.

He isn't afraid of earning money to support his family, but what's with bribing the government, controlling prices in Chang'an, and becoming the greatest landlord in the Tang Empire?

Then one day, Wu Zhao, now the mother of their two children, says something that nearly makes him faint:

"Shen Lang, our spies in the palace just reported that Li Shimin is suddenly critically ill. This is our chance!"
