The White Horse Chronicles

People on the street headed toward the place where great flames lit up the sky. It was the only place that suggested this was still the human world. The man in the lead brushed a hand over the felt hat on his head, then wiped his wet hand on his grease-stained padded coat and muttered, "Good thing this damn rain isn't too heavy. I'll still be able to go get a shipment in a bit." Then he waved the torch in his hand toward the people behind him and shouted, "Move it, all of you! If you make me lose money, I'll skin this whole shipment alive!"
