Legend has it that people in the Arctic are so cold that their words freeze into snow and ice as soon as they speak. Since the other person can't hear them, they have to go home and slowly roast the words to hear them...

It's an exceedingly romantic tale, presumably made up by sentimental southerners.

But even if we assume that spoken words really do freeze, there are still quite a few problems. Think about it: what kind of fire would you use to roast or boil snow once you got home? People speak with emotion, and if you boil the words too slowly or too quickly, you can't convey the emotion behind them.
