The Fallen Monk: May Buddha Show Mercy, but I Won't!

"The Buddha says: Lay down the butcher's knife and become a Buddha on the spot!"

Bu Jie looks at the blood dripping from the butcher's knife in his hand and at the criminal lying decapitated before him. He smiles. "If this poor monk doesn't hold the knife, how can he lay it down?"

With that, he tosses the knife to the ground, takes a wine flask in his left hand and a chicken leg in his right, then takes a bite of chicken and a sip of wine. Laughing as he walks, he says, "Ha ha! Wine and meat pass through the gut, but the Buddha stays in the heart. If the world followed my example, everyone would fall into demonic ways... Yet if I don't enter the demonic path, how can I guide demons to become Buddhas?"

The monk presses his palms together. "Amitabha, Amitabha!"
