The protagonist, Quan Zhengjing, accidentally discovers the world of the God of Death. After competing with several great Death Kings, Quan Zhengjing finally becomes the lord of the world of the God of Death. He then discovers that his trusted advisor, Quan Xiangmei, is a wisp of divine consciousness left behind by his former beloved. Quan Zhengjing strives to bring his beloved back to life. Just as the two of them come to their senses, their old enemies from another world track them down.
