Consciousness: The Final Five Centimeters

On a spring night in Japan, the air was slightly chilly. A brown-haired boy flexed his tired fingers.

"I've made a living by writing for years, so my prose is decent enough. I can use the anime as a reference for the plot, and I've read the novel version of Five Centimeters per Second too. If I put in a little effort, I might not recreate it perfectly... but I should be able to capture eighty or ninety percent of the original, right?"

The boy murmured to himself as his young fingers flew across the laptop keyboard, typing neat lines of Japanese into the Word window on the screen!

Anyone from the same world as him who knew a thing or two about anime might have noticed something from the names and plot details in this passage. This was a novel, a novel that did not belong in this world, a novel called Five Centimeters per Second.

This novel and its characters are entirely fictional. Any resemblance to actual people or events is purely coincidental. Do not imitate.
