Anchored at Night by Maple Bridge

The Divine Dragon Corps mysteriously vanished overnight. Just as the nation was on the brink of annihilation, the Four Great Families came to its aid: the Cai family, the Lu family, the Liu family, and the Wu family. Each possessed great power of its own. The Cai family could command the legendary divine beast Kun. The Lu family relied on a powerful network of courtesans to gather intelligence. The Liu family had a legendary Beast King named Tazi. The Wu family possessed the art of lightning, a technique lost to the world in the present day. United as one, the four families helped the Tang clan royal house win the war. King Tang was delighted and rewarded them all handsomely.

The Cai family was the family of the current Imperial Preceptor, and could be called the most powerful clan beneath the Imperial City, its strength enduring to this day. The Lu family used courtesans and their intelligence network to run the black market for a thousand years, becoming the richest in the land. The Wu family occupied the barren lands in the east of the Tang Kingdom and was ennobled as the King of Wu, with its descendants flourishing for generations. Only the Liu family was strange: it refused its reward and instead built a bridge across the Feng River, facing the other three families from the north and south..
