The Immortal Official's Proxy

Inspired by Jim Carrey's classic film Bruce Almighty.

The protagonist's father was driven insane by the previous celestial official. Feeling guilty, the official wanted to make a small amends to the protagonist, but through a series of mishaps, he ended up making him the official's proxy.

This celestial official is a bona fide slacker who spends all day dreaming of doing nothing until quitting time. He hardly ever gets involved in worldly affairs, whether directly or indirectly. During his last shift, he made the protagonist's ancestor a proxy, but things didn't work out well for them. This time, he wanted to compensate the protagonist's father, but the father couldn't accept reality and was frightened into insanity, so the official had no choice but to approach the protagonist.

The celestial official can't directly influence worldly affairs, so he grants the protagonist three wishes. The first is to make his father recover. But from the outside, it looks as though the protagonist brought about the recovery himself, which is how the rules work.

And so the story begins, with an overall lighthearted and humorous tone.
