The Memoirs of Duke Lance

Lance hurriedly helped the old butler up. Then he flew into a rage and shouted, "What? They actually kidnapped my cook and made her a princess? What terrible taste! Even if it's a brainless dragon, this is absolutely unforgivable. I haven't even gone to confront him yet, and he dares to strike first. This is beyond the pale!" In his fury, Lance kicked a pebble by his foot. It flew through the fence and landed in the chicken and duck pen, setting the birds into a frantic flurry. Lance gave an awkward little smile.

The two men, Siter and the other, looked as if something had lodged in their throats. They stared at Lance, dumbfounded, unable to say a word for a long time.

Lance acted as if nothing had happened and flicked his sleeve. "Looks like I won't have a moment's peace until I teach that brainless dragon a proper lesson."
