The Underworld's Nine Reincarnations

The Netherworld is the bond between Heaven and Earth, the Great Dao that weaves the world.

The Netherworld has nine paths of reincarnation and governs the cycle of life and death for all things under Heaven and Earth. The Great Dao may be impartial, but the Heavenly Dao has its own preferences.

It granted life to all things, scattered the grains, set the sun and moon in motion, brought the warmth of spring breezes, poured down summer rain, ushered in the autumn harvest, and gave the world its winter rest. It tempered their bodies and soothed their minds.

It then bestowed upon all things methods to strengthen their bodies and ways to extend their lifespans. Grateful, all things revered Heaven and Earth, and the Heavenly Dao slept contentedly.

Seas changed into fields and stars shifted in the sky. As time passed, all living things began to harbor selfish desires and no longer revered Heaven or honored the Dao.

They all dreamed of transcending the Heavenly Dao and competing with the Great Dao, unaware that they were no more than fireflies foolishly trying to outshine the sun and moon. In the end, they could only bring about their own destruction!

They cultivated the Dao of Heaven and Earth, yet believed that possessing all kinds of abilities meant they no longer needed to revere Heaven or worship Earth. They refused to enter the Netherworld and be reborn through reincarnation, vainly hoping to stand apart from the world and live as long as Heaven.

Little did they know that the Dao of Heaven and Earth was but one of the three thousand Great Daos. The impartial is greater than the partial..
