The Angel Descends

Wu Ming, a more-or-less rich second-generation kid, muddled through a more-or-less ordinary life, thinking he would keep drifting along until the end of a life whose finish line was already in sight. But then, one day, the door to his life swung open. The angel who burst in through the broken window swept her gaze around, her eyes like knives.

"Kid, there's a secret about you."
