In the autumn of 1970, in response to the dangerous international strategic situation, the Party Central Committee and the Communist Party of China issued a great call to step up the construction of the third line and build the Hunan-Guizhou and Zhiliu Railways. The fifth regiment of the Railway Construction Militia went to the Tuqiao paving railway construction site in Zhijiang County, western Hunan. They sweated, shed blood, overcame numerous difficulties and dangers, and went through countless life and death tests. They flattened three mountains, filled two ditches, opened a tunnel, and repaired a third-level station. Together with more than one million militiamen and workers across the province, they finally successfully built the Hunan-Guizhou Railway.
