Journey to the West: The Cosmic Shift

When the story of Journey to the West is read backward, the four master and disciples set out from the Western Heaven for the Great Tang in the East, carrying the scriptures. Along the way, they slay demons and exorcise monsters, witnessing all the world's darkness. Monsters with powerful patrons are spared the fate of being beaten to death by Wukong's Golden Cudgel. Caught up in internal power struggles, Wukong grows disillusioned and seals his Golden Cudgel beneath the sea. Bajie and Sha Seng sell out their principles to become Marshal Tianpeng and the Curtain-Rolling General in the Celestial Court, while Tang Sanzang lives a life of wealth and honor in the Great Tang. In despair, Wukong seals himself away and turns to stone...
