The City of Dai Se and Rivers

I was born in a city by the water. My fate was like a kapok tree stripped of all life, trapped in a cocoon. I became one with the river, yet desperately longed to escape.

Then, in the bitter winter of my twenty-second year, I saw someone standing against the light.

From that moment on, there was no turning back.

Loneliness was like this old city, always looming before me, yet never something I could grasp.

Then I saw that person beneath the dazzling fireworks on a winter night.

I love you like a little weed straining to spread across a barren cliff, waiting for a spring breeze to soothe the scars covering me.
