A Yi chieftain's servant, she later becomes his housekeeper. She carefully plots to punish the two murderers who beat her niece's husband to death. To avenge her niece and the many Yi women, she finds a way to poison the chieftain with herbs. Influenced by the underground Party, she takes part in propaganda and organizing the people, leading her Yi compatriots in various struggles against reactionary forces.
