Three Lives Beyond the Shore: Red Spider Lily

Moonlight ripples with radiance; a fleeting life becomes a thousand-year dream. After crossing the River of Forgetfulness time and again, who waits by the Bridge of Helplessness, holding an oiled-paper fan, for a thousand years? Alas, mortals and immortals are destined to part ways. How could their past love ever be rekindled? With blood as the offering, you trade it for the phoenix's rebirth. How could a mere city wall keep a phoenix from spreading its wings? You reign over all beneath heaven only to prove that your fate is not ruled by the heavens. Yet somehow, you find yourself in an unknown dream. The green hills lie veiled in mist, and the old scenery remains, but your beloved is long gone. On this moonlit night, who plays that old tune, leaving you to sigh over memories of the past?
