Final Fantasy: A Change of Direction

This is a world where superlifeforms called fal'Cie, created by the gods and embodied in crystals, coexist with humanity. Under the protection of the fal'Cie's powerful magic, people live carefree lives in a world called Cocoon, suspended high in the sky. No one ever imagined that their happy, peaceful lives might come to an end. Then one day, an evil fal'Cie from the lower world beneath Cocoon was resurrected in this peaceful world. It cursed those who came near, transforming them into the legendary l'Cie and assigning them a destructive mission. If a l'Cie completes their mission, they become crystal and endure forever. If they fail, their fate is more cruel than death. Clearly, becoming a l'Cie heralded death. After 13 days of tensions building, the conflict finally erupted into a fierce battle between Cocoon and the lower world. All of this had originally been predetermined, but now that he has arrived, what will change?
