Siheyuan: A Courtyard Full of Disciples, All Fighting to Support Me in My Old Age

Reborn as Liu Haizhong, do I still need to rely on my own son to support me in old age?

Teach apprentices everything I know, and they’ll repay me with a generosity that surpasses one another!

By the time I walk into the workshop, they’ve already brewed my hot tea and are fighting over who gets the dirty, exhausting jobs. When work is over and I haven’t brought my bike, my apprentices gather around with it, even putting a cushion on the back seat for their master.

Holidays are even livelier: fine liquor, pastries, eggs, and festive gifts are carried over to the Liu home, trip after trip, until half the room is nearly piled high.

In the summer heat, there are cool towels. When someone comes looking for trouble, the apprentices rush to protect their master. Even after they finish their training and get promoted, they still come back to the courtyard to wish their master and mistress a happy New Year.

The master teaches them how to advance in grade and earn higher wages, and they keep their master and mistress’s meals, comfort, and well-being close to their hearts.

Yi Zhonghai looks at Jia Dongxu, who only knows how to hold out his hand, then at the crowd of apprentices outside Liu Haizhong’s door. He’s so jealous he can barely drink his tea!

Liu Haizhong settles into his chair. “I teach real skills, and I enjoy the good life. The more apprentices I take in, the better life gets!”
