The Lord of Yin and Yang: Nine Yin and Nine Yang

In the final years of the Zhizheng era under the Great Yuan, the land was in chaos and heroes emerged in droves.

Zhang Wuji, leader of the Ming Order, shook the world with his victory at Wan'an Temple. Later, wielding the title of supreme martial artist and the Dragon-Slaying Saber, he put an end to the long-standing feud between the Six Major Sects and the Ming Order. At last, he withdrew from the world with Zhao Min, daughter of the Prince of Ruyang, and settled on Ice and Fire Island, leaving the affairs of the martial world behind.

But though the trees long for stillness, the wind will not cease.

Zhang Wuji may have left, but the martial world is still in turmoil. The remnants of the imperial court and the forces of the martial world scheme against one another, and after a brief period of recovery, the various sects have begun dividing up territory again for their own gain. Emei, Wudang, and Shaolin stand as three powers in a stalemate, while second-rate sects such as Kongtong, Huashan, and Kunlun cling to them for support. Meanwhile, taking advantage of the Central Plains' internal strife, the nations of the Western Regions secretly back puppet forces and infiltrate the passes.

This is an age when heroes have withdrawn and new contenders rise in their place.

It is also Ye Chen's age.
