Siheyuan: I Transmigrated on My Wedding Night and Rose to Become a Great Director

On their wedding bed, Lou Xiao'e envies Xu Huizhen's child. Xu Mao puts an arm around his wife and promises, "Once I've pulled off the big business of making movies, I'll make you the most envied mother in all of Kyoto."

Xu Mao has already gotten to know the few antique projectors in the factory storeroom better than his own kitchen cupboards. But what good is knowing how to show films? As he lies awake at night beside his wife, going over the numbers, he has already turned it over in his mind countless times. With images from seventy years in the future in his head, and the capital he's built up through the System's daily sign-ins, he's determined to change this craft from "showing" films to "making" them. While everyone else is fighting over petty squabbles in the courtyard, he has his sights set on what truly holds the power to shape an era: the world behind the silver screen.

But not a single person in the courtyard is easy to deal with. Qin Huairu makes pointed remarks about his wife, and Jia Zhangshi waits on the other side of the wall for something to use against them. Xu Mao repairs machines by day and comforts his wife at night, while turning the cinematic techniques of the future into his own skills. He knows that in this era, talk alone won't get him ahead. His real trump card will only count once that reel of film starts turning.
