Siheyuan: A Heroic Legend, Beating the 1960s with Supplies

Li Ang was demobilized and returned to Beijing, unaware that eyes throughout the courtyard were watching and scheming against him.

Of course, Li Ang had no way of knowing. By day, he cooperated with the hospital’s examinations, practiced the Eight Brocades, and endured the old lady’s endless chatter. But every night, when he closed his eyes, he sank into a mysterious world called Ginkgo Valley. He had killed wave after wave of chickens and deer, and his level-five Taoist backpack was stocked with food and potions. He had already confirmed that items from the game could be brought into reality. But the hulking Hooked Cats and Scarecrows on the outskirts had completely blocked his way out. He desperately needed more time to test things and prepare.

This courtyard was home to He Yuzhu, the head chef at the steel mill canteen; Qin Huairu, who had been raising three children alone for years since her husband died; and Uncle Yi, who always felt compelled to make decisions for everyone. Li Ang knew exactly what the golden finger in his hands meant, but he also knew it was far too soon to reveal anything unusual. While everyone took him for an amnesiac young man who had barely survived a serious injury, he planned to figure out just how deep the waters ran in this courtyard as quickly as possible.

He would get a firm foothold first, then decide what to do next.
